I grew up in the small New Mexican town where they built the atom bomb. Which means I glow in the dark. And that has its distinct advantages - like if the power ever goes out at night and I'm trying to find the circuit breaker, I don't even need a flash light.
But more importantly, growing up in that isolated little town made me innately curious about people and what makes them tick. (I had nothing better to do in a town with only one gas station and where the cool-kid hangout was the parking lot in front of a Domino's Pizza).
That innate curiosity turned out to be a pretty useful thing in this line of work. For nearly 25 years, I've found myself constantly fascinated by what makes everyone from athletes and luxury car buyers to sports fans, investment advisors and modern-day farmers tick.
And no matter the medium, finding the big idea that speaks to each of them is what excites me most. I've been lucky enough along the way to bring those big ideas to some pretty amazing, brave, forward-thinking clients. But whether it's managing a big-budget client or one with only a few dollars and a huge vision, I still get that same rush of excitement when we find the idea that truly speaks to people and by association lifts sales, transforms businesses and creates success stories.
Now if I could just figure out how to market this glow-in-the-dark thing, I'd really have something.
